Huna Magic
What is Huna?
Huna is a name that didn’t emerge until the late 40′s, when a young psychologist, Max Freedom Long, came back from Hawaii after helping a colleague study this ancient Polynesian system of magic. However, to the Hawaiians it wasn’t considered magic. It was just the way the universe worked. This system was thenceforth called Huna, translated “The Secret”.
In Hawaiian, Kahuna means “keeper of the secret”. The Kahuna were the high priests, the shamans, and the elders of their villages. They helped with manifesting good weather, a good harvest, and good health. They were the healers and guardians of spirit. They also imparted their wisdom to their village and were considered teachers.
I first learned of Huna from Max Freedom Long’s work “The Secret Science Behind Miracles” back in 1994. Since then I have read many interpretations and many various teachings on this amazing paradigm. I have become fond of the work of Serge Kahili King and his practical approach to Huna and it’s teachings.
There are many teachers of Huna in the world today, each with their opinions, interpretations, lineage, and personal connections with the divine. There is a saying in Huna: “A Ohe Pau Ko Ike I Kou Halau” which essentially means: Think not that all wisdom is in your school.
You will find what works for you., even if it’s a small piece of a larger paradigm. Use what works for you. The universe will always supply you with what you are looking for. If you can gain more perspective, you will gather more information and create better questions.
I am currently designing small workshops that will explore the basics. Check out my workshop schedule page for upcoming meetups, talks, and workshops! Or join my Huna Magic Meetup page.
See you soon!
